My name is Bart Stanley Miller, I am running for Nephi City Council.

Having been raised in this community, I know the values and traditions that are important to Nephi and the people here. For a time, I moved away and gained some valuable experience. My family and I have returned, and we have called Nephi home for the past 4 years. However, our history in this valley dates back 143 years, to the first pioneers. Even though we lived elsewhere, my wife Lyndsey and I have always felt this was home and welcomed the chance to return.

Nephi is on the precipice of some important and exciting transformations. Growth and change are happening. We can’t stop it, but together we can guide it. We do have the ability to mold it to best fit our environment and the things we as a community espouse. In addition, we can prepare the community for the changes that will inevitably take place.

This is where I am uniquely qualified and felt that the time has arisen for me to step-up and utilize this experience. As a CPA, and a CFO of an interlocal governmental entity in Heber City, I have the financial acumen essential to provide guidance and oversight to the City and its ever-growing business. Nephi’s enterprise funds (i.e., electric, gas, water, waste management, etc…) should have council members that can provide proper oversight and vision. Having worked in the electric utility industry since 2004 and as a licensed master plumber, I know that I will bring broad and pointed knowledge to city decisions on these enterprise ventures.

I have a firm belief that all should give back to this great country that provides so much. As General MacArthur says, we must be vigilant in our defense of the blessings that have been provided at such a high cost. I feel that the time has come for me to pay this community back for the great life it has supplied to me.
